SUPPORT

Love MakerSpace? So do we – and we need your help to stay in Marrickville and thrive.

Your support helps us sustain and build MakerSpace and provide the community with an extraordinary cultural facility to meet, make, learn and connect.  It helps drive:

  • increased employment of arts and design practitioners.
  • greater vocational skills through training.
  • more creative culture.
  • strengthened local community.

WHY DONATE RIGHT NOW?

Unfortunately, we’ve hit a roadblock. We have been handed a surprise notice of a 68% rent increase on our Marrickville home. Amazingly, we have found the perfect property to give MakerSpace a vibrant future. And the best bit is that it’s only 600m down the road – we will keep our community and Makerspace in Marrickville!

To do so, we need to raise a $50K commitment – and we need your help. By making a tax deductible donation, you can help MakerSpace stay in Marrickville.

HELP US CONTINUE TO DO PHENOMENAL SHIT:

It’s nearly 3 years since we got the keys to Barclay Street. With our supporters, students, members, volunteers and staff, we have built Australia’s biggest public makerspace, and the only one that provides the breadth of gear, classes and support to early career designers. We’ve taught over 3000 students, helped over 400 members turn ideas into reality, and we’ve enabled new design and manufacturing businesses to succeed. We’re so glad that you’ve been part of our journey so far.

We’re ready to kick off the next three years, and grow our impact further. We have big plans that will increase our commitment to design and better support you. From reducing class wait-lists by adding more to our Education Program, to keeping our doors open on Sundays, to increasing 24hr studio spaces – we have some big plans.

And if we raise more than our target? Generally, when we’re not facing a big challenge like this, donations fill the critical gap between memberships, classes and the costs of running and maintaining MakerSpace. Donations also help us expand and grow, doing more of what we do best. Donations over $2 are also tax deductible. We also welcome sponsorship opportunities.

Want to know more? Get in touch at hello@makerspace.org.au or 02 95578584 to start the conversation.

Yes, your Donation is tax deductible:

All donations over $2 are tax-deductible. All donations go to the &company Foundation Public Fund, listed on the Register of Cultural Organisations under subdivision 30-B of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997.

Where do donations go?

Every dollar you give continues to have an impact year in year out.
Why? Because we invest in growing our creative community through business development opportunities, education and training, and building human connections that ripple into a vibrant, sustainable creative culture. We are building the foundation of tomorrow’s Sydney. You are welcome to get in touch to discuss any queries with Anna Lise, 9557 8584 or email us.

You’re in good company! Others who have helped include these (and for a full list scroll to the end of this page!):

What will my donation fund?

What can we do for you?

We’d love to hear from you as to how we can tailor a package that reflects your values and is commensurate with the level of support.  Get involved in mentoring or work with us to establish a new prize for innovation, micro-business or art, or perhaps you simply want us to acknowledge your kindness or promote your brand to our loyal community.

We’re happy to discuss:
  • Naming rights for:
    • Major Workshops (eg. Wood, Metal, Ceramic, CNC shop),
    • Specialist Facility (eg. Education space, Co-working office or Photography Studio),
    • Program (business incubator),
    • Large-scale community program (eg. annual design fair)
    • Regular community event (eg. Drink & Draw), or
    • specific piece of machinery/tools (not otherwise part of a sponsorship arrangement).
  • Team building courses
  • Complimentary or discounted membership or classes for your staff or clients.
  • Discounted membership for customers.
  • Advanced sales opportunities for staff and customers (education program, events etc).
  • Use of the space for corporate events for staff or clients.
  • VIP invitations to events.
  • Opportunities to engage with the community through mentoring, or involvement at events
  • Brand introduction to mailing-list and social media
