This 4-week ceramics course is in our intermediate ceramics class program however; it is Ideal for beginners through to more advanced ceramicists interested in slip casting. No slip casting experience required.
This class will introduce participants to the techniques and skills needed to form a model, make a plaster mould from that model and produce slip cast objects from that mould. Students will produce a model and moulds of their own design. This course provides a great foundation for anyone who wants to incorporate slip casting into their ceramics practice. All materials and tools provided.

Xavier Modoux is a Swiss-trained ceramicist with eight years of formal training, covering all aspect of ceramic production. Commencing his studies at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Geneva and then the Haute Ecole des Arts Appliquées, Xavier went on to become the inaugural studio director and technical advisor for the Ateliers Céramique in Carouge. During this time, he worked with renowned international artists and the triennial festival, Parcours Céramique. Xavier has exhibited in Europe, Asia and Australia since 1998 and immigrated to Australia in 2002.

Cancellations: We rarely cancel classes, but occasional things come up beyond our control. Our classes are very small to ensure you have a great learning experience, but we need a minimum of 4 students to run most of our classes. If a class is cancelled, we will get in touch by phone or email, and discuss your options which include refund, credit or transfer to another date.
Kids in classes: MakerSpace classes are designed for adults. Kids aged 14-17 can book this class on the condition that an accompanying adult also participates – which means booking two places. If you have questions about kids in the workshop, please read this.
