Want to know more about 3D printing? Learn how to create the files, print your own design and learn what might be possible with a 3D printer?
GREAT! This class is for you!
What we cover:
In this workshop you will hone basic skills and tools that you can use to design your very own chess pieces and make those designs into a 3D model. All students will complete a minimum of 1 chess piece. We will go through a freely available slicing software (Cura) and show you how to prepare your chess piece for 3D printing. You will learn how to set up and start your print and all the factors that go into 3D printing and how to get the best results.
Once you have designed a chess piece and prepared it for 3D printing, students will hand over their prepared file for MakerSpace to print for you. You will pick up the print at a later date.
Outside of class time, students are welcome to complete the design of additional pieces – or their whole set! At any point after the class, we will print the whole set for you (with a 15% discount off our printing rates!).
Please wear closed shoes and tie back long hair.
