Do you want to create your own individual style? Where wheel throwing is limited to moderately sized cylindrical pieces, with hand-building the possibilities are endless! If you are feeling constrained by the wheel and want to step beyond symmetry or are looking to work on a larger scale this is the class for you. Our intermediate ceramic hand-building class is perfect for anyone who has mastered the building basics and is ready for a new challenge!
We’ll show you how to create larger and more complex pieces by expanding on the skills you’ve already learnt. The focus will be on building skill rather than producing objects. We’ll investigate different approaches to clay using advanced hand-building and sculptural techniques that will challenge you to create unique and different forms. With only six students per class, there’s plenty of opportunity to ask questions, get help and inspiration from Xavier. It’s time to get creative!
